Summer learning loss is a primary cause of the persistent academic achievement gap between under-resourced children and their more advantaged peers. Horizons at Saint David’s believes that the prevention of academic slide is best achieved by providing boys a nurturing, safe, yet challenging summer learning environment. Using a structured academic and integrated art, athletic, and cultural program, Horizons at Saint David’s focuses on the development of the whole child through experiences that reinforce fundamental academic skills in a joyful, focused setting. A key ingredient of the program is the social and emotional development of each boy.

Horizons students develop life skills: commitment, persistence, leadership. With the tools to navigate their world, Horizons students embrace a more expansive view of what’s possible and travel a path of success that allows them to achieve their goals.
